Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 23, 2025
At Sonora Socratic Academy (FunnelHarbor LLC), we believe in data sovereignty. This policy outlines how we handle student and parent data.
1. Information We Collect
- Identity Data: Names and email addresses of students and parents necessary for enrollment and communication.
- Financial Data: We do not store credit card numbers. All payments are processed via Stripe or ClassWallet.
- Educational Data: Code submissions, project files, and Loom video updates submitted by students.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use this data strictly to:
- Deliver the educational curriculum.
- Provide code reviews and feedback.
- Process invoices and verify ESA compliance.
We do not sell, rent, or trade student data to advertisers or data brokers.
3. Third-Party Tools & Cloud Services
The Guild is a vocational program that teaches modern industry workflows. As such, students are required to use standard commercial cloud platforms. By enrolling, you consent to the use of the following third-party services:
- GitHub (Microsoft): For hosting code repositories.
- Google Workspace: For email, forms, and document storage.
- Loom: For asynchronous video updates.
- OpenAI / Anthropic: Students may use Large Language Models (LLMs) to assist with coding tasks.
Note on AI & LLMs: Student code snippets may be processed by AI APIs (e.g., ChatGPT) for the purpose of automated grading or debugging assistance. We make reasonable efforts to strip Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from these prompts, but parents should be aware that code logic is processed in the cloud.
4. ESA & FERPA Statement
Sonora Socratic Academy operates as a private vendor providing supplemental curriculum and tutoring services. While we implement reasonable security measures to protect student records:
- We are not a "public educational agency" under FERPA definitions.
- We operate under Arizona contract law and the specific vendor requirements of the ESA program.
- We reserve the right to store student project data in standard commercial cloud environments (e.g., Google Drive, AWS) to facilitate the asynchronous nature of the course.
5. Data Retention
We retain student project files and transcripts for up to 3 years to assist with portfolio requests or college applications. Parents may request the deletion of student data at any time by emailing admin@sonorasocratic.com.
